I need some math

I'm really feeling math deprived, like no one even wants to hear the word. So help me out here. Is there something in math that sounds interesting (or weird) to you that I could blog about. Otherwise you might get something like odd and unusual facts about Reimann's Zeta Function. *grin*

You could give an online lesson on Calculus integrals... some poor high school student may find it and have his grade saved. *grin*

But I'll take any information on Reimann's Zeta Function I can get. After all, you never know when it will come in handy. *grin*

Reimann's Zeta Function works for me :-)

Meanwhile, this page may or may not be useful:

Teresa - I doubt that I'd make any high school student's day since my inclination is to add a heavy dose of math history to anything I write. Now where else could you go and get history and math at the same time? *grin*

Harvey - I'd bet that you and Teresa are the only two people who will read this and the only two who know what Riemann's Zeta Function is.

I just checked the site you gave me. It is waaaay too cool. *grin*

How about a list of your favorite math games and why? Do you do Sudoku? Or the one that looks like a crossword puzzle.. .think it starts with a K? What else?

Have you considered writing for Wikipedia? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Riemann_zeta_function

And there are at least 3 of us. GRIN

Hi VW! 3! LOL for sure.

Surprisingly enough I don't do math games. I'm such a nerd that trying to figure out how to write a proof or just fiddling with integrals is a math game. *sighing she's hopeless*

Thanks for the compliment, but I'm so much not an expert that writing for Wikipedia is a stretch.

I just looked at the Wikipedia entry on Riemann's Zeta Function. Are you looking for a translation into ordinary English by any chance? *grin*

Bing Bing Bing... give that woman a prize. Yes, I think you would do better at an ordinary English translation. BTW, I do understand some of this stuff. I did minor in Math when in College. I just lost all the brain cells after having 2 boys and no sleep for 4 years.

I don't think you lost the brain cells. Although with 2 boys, they may have decided to take a mini-vacation. *grin*

One of the reasons, I think, that the Wikipedia entry isn't in ordinary English is because it was written by a mathematician and English is a little too "fuzzy" when trying to transmit mathematical information. There's kind of an attitude of "if you want to understand it, learn the math" instead of "let me explain this simply even though some of the nuances will be lost so you'll get interested and want to learn the math"
