How stupid is this?

There's a job opening. The only way to apply is online. The site bombs halfway through the process. There is no contact info for HR. After trying multiple times over a 24 hour period, do I really want to apply for the position?

Huh - seems like they need some tweaking of their HR process....

Only if you want to get in your car and drive to your sister's place and use her high speed connection. :-)

Have to wonder about a company that provides no other contact though.

Hmmm. Is there a 'normal' number for the place? That you can call and ask for their IT help or HR?

We ran into that alot when Lenny was applying for jobs. It's really frustrating. It's really hard to even get to the application on some sites. Sorry you're dealing with this now. Sue

I found a number for the help desk. Of course, it's a toll call. I wonder if they're just looking for the people so desparate to work that they'll jump through whatever hoop or over whatever obstacle to get the app in.

Since I'm thinking about going over to the college on Saturday, maybe I'll try the application process again there. If that doesn't work...

In my little bit of experience many, many orgs use peoplesoft -- peoplesoft is always loosing applications and crashing -- also really only works right in IE. So -- the organization probably paid thousands of dollars for the system and can't abandon it. Keep trying and see if you can get an e-mail address to ask if they've successfully received it.

I'm nothing if not stubborn, so I will keep on trying to get the application in. In the meantime, Sears called. I applied for a cashier's job there. I don't mind the work even if the pay will be significantly lower than what I've been making. But a job is a job and I can keep on looking.
